This place is a safe haven for healthy eaters, vegans and vegetarians; the entire atmosphere is very modern, sophisticated and chic. I visited the Lagavaera location which is right in the heart of ‘downtown’ Reykjavik on the second floor and fell in love with the beautiful natural décor! The walls are painted white to make the whole restaurant feel more open and spacious; exposed beams line the ceiling and handmade rustic wooden tables are redily available. The food is presented in such a beautiful and appealing way, you’ll want to try everything you see!
I ordered the veggie wrap with 3 side salads; curried cauliflower & chickpeas, beet & apple and sweet potato carrot. Everything was simply delicious and really hit the spot. For a country that struggles to produce enough homegrown vegetables this place offers a wide variety and selection for a reasonable price. My entire meal was around $18-20 CAD (the currency in Iceland is Icelandic Krona) and I feel it was well worth it. My husband got himself a flavor sparkling bevvy and the most tempting and honestly delicious peanut butter square I have ever had. in my life. Needless to say the first visit was not our last.
I’d actually read about Glo online and of course through trip advisor as they’re highly recommended and after seeing how much their values and mantra were similar to HerBalancedLife I knew I had to visit.
For my second visit I had a takeout order of their delicious hot curry chicken with brown rice and 2 side salads. I have to admit the chicken wasn’t my favourite, but the flavor and entire rest of the meal was fantastic. It also didn’t deter me from trying it again!
Glo is a delicious take on healthy foods with an inviting and relaxing atmosphere. It will be hard not to spend all of your time in Iceland inside a Glo restaurant!
Have you been to Glo? What were some of your favourite’s there?
